Join our panel of experts on Thursday 13 August as we discuss how responsible investment and sustainable finance must act and commit to accountability for dismantling systemic racism and promoting racial equity and justice.

This session is the first in a series RIAA will run in 2020 and beyond, led by RIAA's member Human Rights Working Group. It seeks to open a long and necessary conversation between First Nations peoples, civil society and investors on First Nations people's rights, empowerment, and leadership.

As investors, asset owners, and business leaders, how do we act for racial justice within our own organisations, as well as in our engagements with portfolio companies? What are the responsibilities of responsible investors and sustainable finance to support the economic equality of First Nations peoples in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and push back on racism, social exclusion, over-policing and disproportionate incarceration? What can we learn from how the responsible investing community in the US are seeking to combat structural racism through finance and how it is working with the #BlackLivesMatter movement? What are the legalities of the Rio Tinto Juukan Gorge Caves case and how are investors engaging with Rio Tinto?

Our panel includes:

Time: 10am – 11.30am AEST / 12pm -1.30pm NZST
