Susheela chairs the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia, and is special adviser to the co-chair of the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative. Susheela has been advising institutional investors on responsible investment for 15 years. During this time, she has led the development of Regnan’s engagement program, its advocacy, its ESG research products, and most recently, its advisory offerings. In her advisory capacity she supports some of the worlds’ largest investors and investor initiatives to develop robust responsible investment strategies and governance; to establish or upgrade their RI implementation; and to achieve a step change in their impact and effectiveness.

Susheela is an acknowledged thought leader in Responsible Investment. She has spearheaded many of the industry’s stewardship developments, including Active Ownership 2.0, for the Principles for Responsible Investment. This is being recognised as the emerging best practice standard in stewardship.

Estelle Parker leads RIAA’s research, certification, policy, standards and working group programs. She brings 20 years’ experience leading strategic initiatives as a diplomat, policy analyst, stakeholder manager and strategic planner with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Estelle has served, inter alia, as Acting Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador to Mexico, Central America and Cuba; Deputy State Director (Victoria); Policy Adviser to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands; and as Director overseeing the development and management of bilateral relationships.

Estelle also worked for five years at the University of Melbourne, where she lectured in the Master of Public Policy and Management and Master of International Relations. She is currently Chair of the Board at Wild at Heart Community Arts, which helps people who experience disability, mental illness and disadvantage to tell their stories through art and music making.

Alan is Managing Principal of Point Advisory’s NSW office based in Sydney. He oversees the firm’s integrated advisory solutions in corporate responsibility and sustainability, including environmental, social and governance risk. With over 25 years of industry and professional services experience, he takes a pragmatic approach to integrating sustainability strategies and risk management into organisations. He works with investors to strengthen their chosen ESG integration and reporting approaches. Alan chairs RIAA’s First Nations Peoples’ Rights Working Group that he helped establish during mid-2020 in the wake of the destruction of shelters at Juukan Gorge and the global Black Lives Matter movement.

Kado Muir is Co-Chair of the First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance and the National Native Title Council. He is a Ngalia Traditional Owner and a Wati – a Goldfields Aboriginal cultural and community leader, and an anthropologist/archaeologist with many years’ experience working in Aboriginal heritage, language preservation and maintenance, traditional ecological/education and native title research. Kado is also Chair of the Wakamurru Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, the PBC for Manta Rirrtinya Native Title Determination and the former founding CEO of the Goldfields Land and Sea Council. He also operates a number of businesses including an Aboriginal art business, a Sandalwood company, and a heritage consultancy business. He is a long-time activist for bi-lingual and two way education, environmental and cultural heritage protection and promoting alternative community based enterprises, especially through his PhD university partnerships for research on Wealth in First Nations.

Senior Responsible Investment Adviser at HESTA

Claire Heeps is a Senior Responsible Investment Adviser at HESTA. Since joining HESTA in mid-2020, Claire has lead the Fund’s response to the destruction of significant cultural heritage at Juukan Gorge by Rio Tinto. Prior to joining HESTA, Claire worked in the ESG Team at AustralianSuper for six years after joining AustralianSuper as a graduate analyst in 2012. In that role, she specialised in integrating environmental, social and governance considerations in unlisted transactions. Claire holds a Master of International Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Honours) from The University of Melbourne.
