The vast majority of the worlds and New Zealand’s investable assets are in the hands of investment fiduciaries. Fiduciaries include trustees and directors, advisers, investment committee members, and asset managers. In this session Aaron Drew will discuss fiduciary duties in relation to recent legislation passed in New Zealand governing Trusts and Financial Service providers, and in relation to global best practice fiduciary standards. A key duty emerging globally is consideration of Socially Responsible Investing. Aaron will discuss how the legal position on this is rapidly changing as evidence has mounted that rather than comprising investment outcomes, SRI can reduce risks and improve returns.
