Non Member Director of Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation

Tony is a non-member Director of Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation (WGAC), the native title holder for the Eastern Guruma people whose land covers over 6,500 square kilometres around Tom Price in the Pilbara region of Western Australia (the Eastern Guruma are neighbours to the PKKP). Eastern Guruma country is extremely rich in Aboriginal culture and history with sites going back over 50,000 years. It is also an emerging rock-art precinct with 78 sites identified to date (some dating back 40,000 years). That part of the Pilbara is under significant development pressure from mining companies – 93% of Eastern Guruma country is covered by exploration and mining leases. There are currently seven large iron-ore mines operating with further expansions and mines planned.

Tony has been a Director of WGAC since 2014. He is also the Chairman of Stellar Living Limited, a social housing provider in WA and a former board member of Madalah Limited, an indigenous education scholarship provider. Tony is a Chartered Accountant with a diverse career spanning 30 years in commerce and public practice.

Ju-Lin O'Connor is a senior advisor at the National Native Title Council leading both the cultural heritage law reform project and national native title compensation strategy. Ju-Lin has qualifications in communications and law and started her legal career in commercial litigation at Gilbert + Tobin, Sydney. She has over 20 years’ experience in land rights and native title, working at the Central Land Council in the Northern Territory and then on legal and policy matters for native title representative bodies and Traditional Owner groups throughout the country. As a consultant, Ju-Lin has also worked on a range of social justice and commercial matters.
