Ben’s people are the Gija from Halls Creek in Western Australia.

Ben has worked to increase the role Commonwealth Treasury plays in the First Nations space and has driven the application of an economic lens to First Nations policy. He strongly views sound economic principles underpinning all policies directed to First Nations people and has successfully overseen the development of the First Nations Policy Unit within Treasury to achieve this goal. This approach will increase the success of policies and increase the ability of First Nations people to achieve economic growth and generate wealth.

Ben has worked in Treasury on a range of issues ranging from international economics to foreign investment to market conduct before moving into the FNPU in May 2023. Prior to joining Treasury, he worked for the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation as an intelligence officer dealing with a range of domestic and international security issues.

Alan is Managing Principal of Point Advisory’s NSW office based in Sydney (Point Advisory is an ERM Group company). He oversees the firm’s integrated advisory solutions in corporate responsibility and sustainability, including environmental, social and governance risk. With over 25 years of industry and professional services experience, he takes a pragmatic approach to integrating sustainability strategies and risk management into organisations. He works with investors to strengthen their chosen ESG integration and reporting approaches. Alan chairs RIAA’s First Nations Peoples’ Rights Working Group that he helped establish during mid-2020 in the wake of the destruction of shelters at Juukan Gorge and the global Black Lives Matter movement.
