RIAA's Nature Working Group is an initiative to support members in their stewardship responsibilities to protect nature and biodiversity in their business operations and their portfolio of companies.

The Nature Working Group has a three-fold purpose: build out the recommendations of the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI) and Aotearoa Circle's Sustainable Finance Roadmaps, engage with the latest international developments (particularly the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures), address nature-related financial risks and expand opportunities in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

In May 2022, the Albanese government committed to EPBC Act reform and establishing an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The amendments to the EPBC Act will be informed by the Samuel Review which found the Act to be 'ineffective' in protecting and conserving biodiversity. Join RIAA's Nature Working Group for a special presentation on the EPBC Act and the current state of environmental regulation. Brendan Sydes, National Biodiversity Policy Advisor at the Australian Conservation Foundation will present on the EPBC reforms and Michael Cornish, Policy Lead at the Australian Land Conservation Alliance will be providing an update on the Nature Repair Market and other environmental issues.

This special presentation will be followed by our Nature Working Group meeting, which will include the latest industry updates on the Sustainalytics StockWatch report, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures and Aotearoa New Zealand.
