Independent Federal Member for the seat of Warringah

Zali Steggall OAM is the Independent Federal Member for the seat of Warringah in Sydney’s North. She is also Australia’s most successful alpine skier, winning a bronze medal in slalom at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, and a World Championship gold medal in 1999. Since 2008, Zali has been a practising Barrister, specialising in commercial law, sports law and family law.

James has over 32 years of portfolio and senior management experience from working in Australia and the UK. The bulk of his career has been in funds management, covering Australasian and international equity portfolios, both as a direct investor and a manager of managers. As chief investment officer, James is responsible for the formulation of investment strategy and overall management of U Ethical portfolios. Prior to U Ethical, James’ most recent experience involved managing portfolios for charities and not-for-profit groups across diversified portfolios at ANZ Trustees.

Yen is Head of Credit Research at Altius Asset Management and has responsibility for integrating ESG risks assessment in their investment processes. She is a seasoned Credit and ESG specialist who has expertise in both Australian and global corporate credit analysis, with investment grade and high yield companies, having spent more than 10 years as a credit analyst. Yen has led and implemented research processes, managed a team of analysts and integrated environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into fixed income and credit investments.

Prior to joining Altius, Yen worked for Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) and Citigroup Asset Management.

Tom King (CIO) was involved in the formation of Nanuk in 2009 and is responsible for the management of the New World Fund. Tom has broad experience in equity funds management, investment banking and private equity. His was previously an investment manager at Consolidated Press Holdings Limited and prior to that held the position of Associate Director with NM Rothschild and Sons (Australia) Ltd where he was involved in a number of roles, primarily within Rothschild’s investment banking division. Tom has also worked as an equity investment analyst and as an industrial consultant. He holds a first class honours degree in Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Tom has also won an Olympic gold medal in sailing and has been awarded a medal of the Order of Australia.

Luke holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance), a Diploma (Financial Planning), and has a strong background in ethical investment research and portfolio construction since 2009. Luke is the head of research, compliance and portfolio management for Ethical Advisers Funds Management. He is an Authorised Representative of Ethical Investment Advisers, and currently sits on the board of the Ethical Advisers’ Co-Operative.

Director of Climate Change and Sustainability practice at EY

Dr Graham Sinden is a Director in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability practice in Sydney, and is a leading expert and practitioner in climate risk assessment and scenario analysis. Graham is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy, an observer to the Climate Measurement Standardisation Initiative, and a guest lecturer on energy and climate policy and economics at the University of Sydney. Prior roles including: publicly appointed advisor to the UK Energy Minister; lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; research associate at the University of Oxford; negotiator for British Standards Institute on GHG accounting; and a senior strategy manager at the Carbon Trust (London).
