TEAMS LINK TO JOIN ON THE DAY

The Australian Government and Responsible Investment Association Australasia would like to invite you to participate in a series of information and capacity building workshops to explore and better understand the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). The workshop series will be facilitated by KPMG on behalf of the Australian Government.

What is the TNFD?

The TNFD was established in June 2021 to develop and deliver a standardised risk management and disclosure Framework for organisations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks and opportunities. In March 2022, a beta-version (v0.1) of the Framework was released for testing and feedback.

What is the objective of this workshop series?

The workshops are part of a broader project seeking to educate and gather feedback from potential users of the TNFD Framework(s), now and into the future – especially throughout the period in which the 'beta' Framework is iterated. The Australian Government is seeking to ensure the perspectives of Australian businesses are accurately incorporated in the development and creation of the final TNFD framework, set to be released in 2023, and develop a clear understanding of the needs of the private sector and role of government going forward, particularly in respect of data and information.

How are the workshops structured?

On behalf of the Australian Government, KPMG is facilitating a series of four workshops between May – August 2022. The workshops will seek to highlight the purpose, objectives and activities of the TNFD to Australian companies and inform businesses on the use and application of the beta-Framework(s). The workshops will cover:

  • definitions within the Framework;
  • the climate and nature-nexus (including touching on the work of the Taskforce for Climate Related Financial Disclosures – TCFD);
  • nature-related risks and opportunities; and
  • the next beta-Framework release (v0.2)

This workshop will be hosted at KPMG's offices in Melbourne or virtually via Microsoft Teams, and will be jointly attended by members of the Australian Sustainable Finance Institute (ASFI). A detailed arrival guide is also attached for your reference. Please arrive by 10:15am. Morning tea will be provided upon arrival.
