What we can learn from the UK Stewardship Code Claudia Chapman
Investor stewardship is an increasingly important tool in responsible investment strategies. RIAA’s research shows that approximately $726 billion in assets under management in Australia includes stewardship activities. Stewardship Codes have proliferated around the world. Prominent amongst these is the UK’s, which sets a high bar to entry, and has robust requirements for ongoing signatory status.
Claudia led the revision and implementation of the UK Financial Reporting Council’s latest Stewardship Code. Hear lessons learned as it has bedded down, how this is driving change in the market, and where next for stewardship including the growing focus on collaboration and systems change to achieve positive real-world outcomes.

Beyond renewables – what are the next big trends in sustainability? – Adviser Session Claire Jervis•Rachel Alembakis•Greg Liddell•Lucy Steed•Tom King
The last 20 years have seen a gradual acceptance of the necessity to decarbonise the economy. We are now clearly on a pathway to widespread adoption of renewable energy, energy storage, electric vehicles and hydrogen. But even if these are universally accepted in coming years, they will only address around half of global greenhouse gas emissions and won't solve other critical sustainability issues. This session will showcase the emerging sustainable trends and solutions that are likely to gain prominence this decade.

When social license becomes a sport Nick Truelson•Dean Hegarty
Investors aren’t the only group having to manage increasing public expectations around values and social license. Sport occupies a special place in the Australian cultural landscape. So how does a professional sports franchise manage to juggle the commercial realities of sponsorship revenue, with the values of its fanbase, alongside those of individual athletes who are increasingly seeking to use their platform for social justice? We hear from Melbourne Utd CEO Nick Truelson, on how his club has put their values at the forefront of organisation decision making. What happens when a club actively excludes specific industries from their revenue stream? And what opportunities are created when you lead with your values?

Lifting the bar on impact reporting in an era of transparency and accountability Rosemary Addis•Sean Gilbert•John Treadgold•Chris Chen
The increasing scrutiny over how funds and superannuation options label and market their products has placed greater importance on how these claims are substantiated. Impact funds are at the forefront of reporting on the outcomes of their stated environmental and social objectives, often including practical anecdotes and interactive illustrations within their impact reports. So how can impact be reported to substantiate claims while simultaneously acting as an effective tool for product marketing?
This session will tackle what you need to consider in making claims around impact, the impact thesis/impact charters, the evolving definition of impact in the market, how different organisations define impact and how claims around impact can be substantiated to satisfy fiduciary and regulatory obligations, while telling the story about impact for the benefit of consumers.
