Amanda is an ethics analyst at Australian Ethical Investment where she evaluates the impacts companies’ products, services and operations have on people, the planet and animals. Prior to joining Australian Ethical, Amanda was a Senior Associate in the Allens Competition and Consumer Law team. Amanda also volunteers as a senior lawyer with the Animal Law Institute and was Chair of the NSW Young Lawyers Animal Law Committee from 2015 to 2017.

Jed Goodfellow has over 20 years’ experience working in the animal welfare sector. He is a lawyer by background and currently Senior Policy Officer at RSPCA Australia with a focus on legislative and regulatory issues affecting animal welfare. Jed has a PhD in animal welfare law and teaches Animal Law at Macquarie University on an annual basis.

Shatha is Legal Counsel for Animals Australia, and a former Prosecutor/Legal Counsel of RSPCA (SA). She is a lawyer experienced in the field of animal law protection, advocacy and prosecutions. Shatha engages in legal advocacy and legal challenges for the purposes of animal protection, and has mounted various State and Federal legal challenges on behalf of Animals. Shatha conducts undercover investigations across the Middle East and North Africa into the live animal export trade. Shatha also regularly guest lectures at law schools across Australia. In 2012, Shatha was named Australia’s Young Lawyer of the Year by the Law Council of Australia. Shatha also holds a Degree in Economics and a Masters in Commerce and spent nine years working in the financial services industry.

Elliot Teperman (Outreach Analyst at FAIRR)

Elliot works at FAIRR Initiative, a collaborative investor network that raises awareness of the ESG risks and opportunities caused by intensive livestock production. Elliot works in investor outreach, understanding investors’ needs and communicating FAIRR’s findings with investors. Elliot also researches of financial risks of animal welfare practices. Elliot holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Law, and researched the psychological drivers of meat consumption at both the University of Oxford and Melbourne.

Dr Anna Young-Ferris (University of Sydney Business School)

Investment analysis and climate change/sustainability reporting have been the focus of Anna’s research and professional career for two decades. Her award-winning PhD case study examined the integration of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) accounting information in mainstream investment decisions and she continues to focus and publish her research in this field.

Dr Shan Zhou (University of Sydney Business School)

Shan has gained considerable research experience on non-financial information reporting and assurance. In Shan’s PhD thesis, she investigates the capital market benefits of integrated reporting including analysts’ forecasts. Shan has successfully produced five quality publications in the area of non-financial reporting and assurance and continues to work on a pipeline of research projects in this area.
